1Oh sing unto Jehovah a new song; For he hath done marvellous things: His right hand, and his holy arm, hath wrought salvation for him.
2Jehovah hath made known his salvation: His righteousness hath he openly showed in the sight of the nations.
3He hath remembered his lovingkindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel: All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4Make a joyful noise unto Jehovah, all the earth: Break forth and sing for joy, yea, sing praises.
5Sing praises unto Jehovah with the harp; With the harp and the voice of melody.
6With trumpets and sound of cornet Make a joyful noise before the King, Jehovah.
7Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; The world, and they that dwell therein;
8Let the floods clap their hands; Let the hills sing for joy together
9Before Jehovah; for he cometh to judge the earth: He will judge the world with righteousness, And the peoples with equity.
What is Psalms 98 about?
Another new song rises because the LORD has done marvellous things, gaining the victory with His own right hand and holy arm. He has made known His salvation and openly shown His righteousness before the nations, remembering His mercy and truth toward the house of Israel so that all the ends of the earth have seen it. The whole earth, the sea, the floods, and the hills are called to make a joyful noise and sing, for He comes to judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with equity. Celebrating a salvation displayed to every nation, this psalm looks ahead to the coming of the King whose advent the church has long sung as joy to the world.
