What is Psalms 112 about?

Sharing the acrostic form and setting of the psalm before it, this wisdom song turns from the works of God to the character of the man who fears Him. The one who delights in God's commandments is described as gracious, generous, and unafraid of evil tidings, his heart fixed in trust while his righteousness endures for ever. Such a man mirrors the very attributes just ascribed to God, so that the God-fearer comes to reflect the God he worships. Against the grieving, perishing wicked, the psalm holds out the settled security that faith in the LORD alone can give.

1Praise ye Jehovah. Blessed is the man that feareth Jehovah, That delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2His seed shall be mighty upon earth: The generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3Wealth and riches are in his house; And his righteousness endureth for ever.
4Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: He isgracious, and merciful, and righteous.
5Well is it with the man that dealeth graciously and lendeth; He shall maintain his cause in judgment.
6For he shall never be moved; The righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance.
7He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: His heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah.
8His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, Until he seehis desireupon his adversaries.
9He hath dispersed, he hath given to the needy; His righteousness endureth for ever: His horn shall be exalted with honor.
10The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; He shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: The desire of the wicked shall perish.
