What is Psalms 117 about?

Briefest of all the psalms, this two-verse doxology stands within the Hallel and calls not Israel alone but all nations to praise the LORD. His merciful kindness is great toward His people, and His truth endures for ever. Small as it is, it reaches past Israel's borders to the whole world. Paul cites it as proof that the Gentiles were always meant to glorify God for His mercy, so that this shortest chapter carries the widest reach of the gospel.
