1I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go unto the house of Jehovah.
2Our feet are standing Within thy gates, O Jerusalem,
3Jerusalem, that art builded As a city that is compact together;
4Whither the tribes go up, even the tribes of Jehovah, Foran ordinance for Israel, To give thanks unto the name of Jehovah.
5For there are set thrones for judgment, The thrones of the house of David.
6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: They shall prosper that love thee.
7Peace be within thy walls, And prosperity within thy palaces.
8For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
9For the sake of the house of Jehovah our God I will seek thy good.
What is Psalms 122 about?
Arriving at last, this Song of Ascents by David rejoices in the very gates the pilgrims have reached. "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD," he sings, standing within Jerusalem, the city of the tribes and the seat of the thrones of David. He calls the worshipers to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and to seek her good for the sake of the house of the LORD. The city drawing the tribes together foreshadows the greater Jerusalem where all God's people are gathered.
