1Praise ye Jehovah. Praise, O ye servants of Jehovah, Praise the name of Jehovah.
2Blessed be the name of Jehovah From this time forth and for evermore.
3From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same Jehovah’s name is to be praised.
4Jehovah is high above all nations, And his glory above the heavens.
5Who is like unto Jehovah our God, That hath his seat on high,
6That humbleth himself to behold The things that arein heaven and in the earth?
7He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, And lifteth up the needy from the dunghill;
8That he may set him with princes, Even with the princes of his people.
9He maketh the barren woman to keep house, And to bea joyful mother of children. Praise ye Jehovah.
What is Psalms 113 about?
With praise established, the collection moves into the Egyptian Hallel (Psalms 113–118), the songs Israel sang at Passover to remember the LORD's deliverance. Servants of the LORD are summoned to bless His name from the rising to the setting of the sun, exalting the God enthroned on high who yet stoops to behold the heavens and the earth. He raises the poor from the dust and seats them with princes, and makes the barren woman a joyful mother — the God whose greatness is shown in His mercy to the lowly. This stooping majesty anticipates the Lord who would empty Himself to lift up the fallen.
