For not in a long time, but at once, He healed his vice. And not with him only does He sit down to meat, but with many others also; although this very thing wa…
2. Then, after His reproach, what says He? There shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. Now is He striking the first note of the doctrine of His resurrection, and confirming it by the type. What then? One may say; was no sign given it? None was given to it on asking. For not to bring in them did He work His signs (for He knew them to be hardened), but …

They were written by the Prophet Joel, and the Church establishes the practice of Lent in conformity with them, ordering fasting. Today the practice of Lent, defined by Paul VI in the Constitution "Poenitemini ", is considerably reduced as compared with practices of …
We see that in the ancient churches there were certain times appointed for holy days, or feasts, and appointed solemn assemblies for their orderly celebration. We permit the churches to celebrate the memory of the Lord's nativity, circumcision, passion, resurrection, and of his ascension into heaven, and the sending of the Holy Spirit upon his disciples. We approve of fasting a…
