Moses served as the great high priest of Israel, mediating between the holy God and the sinful people. His intercessions after the golden calf and the rebellion of Korah demonstrate that the true priest must love both God and the people. Philo sees in Moses' priesthood a foreshadowing of the ideal mediator who bridges the infinite gap between the divine and human realms.
