I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

As there is no true religion where there is nothing else but affection, so there is no true religion where there is no religious affection. He who has no religious affection is in a state of spiritual death, and is wholly destitute of the powerful, quickening, saving influences of the Spirit of God upon his heart.
Let me therefore exhort you to come to a determination: do not rest in being almost a Christian. Examine yourselves whether ye be in the faith. Prove your own selves. If upon examination you find that you are only almost, and not altogether Christians, do not rest until God has converted your souls.
