§1025To live in heaven is "to be with Christ." the elect live "in Christ,"598 but they retain, or rather find, their true identity, their own name.599 For life is to be with Christ; where Christ is, there is life, there is the kingdom.600
2. But wherefore does He still go on, when the others have withdrawn, to speak to these also in parables? They had become wiser by His sayings, so as even to understand. At any rate, to them He says afterwards, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto Him, Yea, Lord. So completely, together with its other objects, did the parable effect this too, that it made them mor…

Chapter 24.—Passages from the Psalms of David Which Predict the End of the World and the Last Judgment. There are many allusions to the last judgment in the Psalms, but for the most part only casual and slight. I cannot, however, omit 444 to mention what is said there in express terms of the end of this world: “In the beginning hast Thou laid the foundations of the earth, O Lor…
Concerning the holy and much-lauded ever-virgin one, Mary, the Mother of God, we have said something in the preceding chapters, bringing forward what was most opportune, viz., that strictly and truly she is and is called the Mother of God. Now let us fill up the blanks. For she being pre-ordained by the eternal prescient counsel of God and imaged forth and proclaimed in diverse…
We believe in the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with glory and great power, to judge the living and the dead, and that His kingdom shall have no end. And we look for and expect the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven, in the glory of the Father, with the holy angels, and shall sit upon the throne o…
The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the church.
We believe that the end of the world is approaching; that at the last day Christ will descend from heaven, and raise the dead from the grave to final retribution; that a solemn separation will then take place; that the wicked will be adjudged to endless punishment, and the righteous to endless joy; and that this judgment will fix forever the final state of men in heaven or hell…
