The Long Ending of Mark. The earliest and most reliable manuscripts end Mark at 16:8. Verses 9-20 are absent from Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus, the two oldest complete uncial manuscripts. Eusebius and Jerome noted that these verses were missing from most Greek copies known to them. The passage is present in Codex Alexandrinus, Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus, and the vast majority of Byzantine manuscripts. A shorter alternative ending also exists in some manuscripts.
