Come, ye poor, lost, undone sinners, come just as you are to Christ. He will not cast you out. If you have been the greatest sinners, the blood of Christ is sufficient to cleanse you. He invites you: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Oh, do not put off the day of salvation!
Sanctification begins the moment we are justified. It gradually increases from that time. But there is likewise an instantaneous change, wrought by the Spirit of God, in which the heart is cleansed from all sin and filled with pure love to God and man. This is what I call entire sanctification, or Christian perfection.
From the time of our being born again, the gradual work of sanctification takes place. We are enabled by the Spirit to mortify the deeds of the body, of our evil nature; and as we are more and more dead to sin, we are more and more alive to God. We wait for entire sanctification, for full salvation from all our sins — from pride, self-will, anger, unbelief — or, to express it i…

Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death? A. That I am not my own, but belong — body and soul, in life and in death — to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father i…
Q. What do you believe concerning the forgiveness of sins? A. I believe that God, because of Christ's atonement, will never hold against me any of my sins nor my sinful nature which I need to struggle against all my life. Rather, in his grace God grants me the righteousness of Christ to free me forever from judgment.
Q. Does this outward washing with water itself wash away sins? A. No, only Jesus Christ's blood and the Holy Spirit cleanse us from all sins.
The Deity is good and more than good, and so is His will. For that which God wishes is good. Moreover the precept, which teaches this, is law, that we, holding by it, may walk in light 1 John 1:7: and the transgression of this precept is sin, and this continues to exist on account of the assault of the devil and our unconstrained and voluntary reception of it. Romans 7:23 And t…
