If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

[1] ὃς ἐρείδεται ἐπὶ ψεύδεσιν, οὗτος ποιμαίνει ἀνέμους, ὁ δ’ αὐτὸς διώξεται ὄρνεα πετόμενα· [2] ἀπέλιπεν γὰρ ὁδοὺς τοῦ ἑαυτοῦ ἀμπελῶνος, τοὺς δὲ ἄξονας τοῦ ἰδίου γεωργίου πεπλάνηται· [3] διαπορεύεται δὲ δι’ ἀνύδρου ἐρήμου καὶ γῆν διατεταγμένην ἐν διψώδεσιν, συνάγει δὲ χερσὶν ἀκαρπίαν.
