Historic Christian voices

5 passages from patristic writers, Reformers, and church catechisms citing this verse.

On account of her faith and hospitality, Rahab the harlot was saved. For when spies were sent by Joshua, the son of Nun, to Jericho, the king of the country ascertained that they were come to spy out their land, and sent forth men to seize them. But the hospitable Rahab receiving them, hid them on the roof of her house under some stalks of flax.
Covers Joshua's conquest of Canaan (the crossing of the Jordan, fall of Jericho, the allotment of the land) and the period of the Judges (Othniel, Ehud, Deborah, Gideon, Jephthah, Samson). Josephus follows the biblical narrative closely while harmonizing chronological difficulties.
