This is the book of the generations of Adam. Moses recites the catalogue of the posterity of Adam through Seth, to show that the Church of God was preserved through that line. The extraordinary longevity recorded here is not to be wondered at as a fable, for God sustained the lives of the patriarchs for the propagation of the human race and the transmission of divine truth from…

The second written was that accord…
Josephus retells the Genesis narrative: creation, the fall of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, the genealogy from Adam to Noah, the flood, the tower of Babel, and the lives of Abraham and Isaac. He follows the biblical account closely but adds rationalizing explanations and draws on extra-biblical traditions.
