Deuteronomy 9:12

And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.

KJV

dixitque mihi : Surge, et descende hinc cito : quia populus tuus, quem eduxisti de Ægypto, deseruerunt velociter viam, quam demonstrasti eis, feceruntque sibi conflatile.

Vulgate

LXX

And Jehovah said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people that thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.

It is incumbent on us, therefore, to investigate deeply concerning the present times, and to search out the things which have power to save us. Let us then utterly flee from all the works of iniquity, lest these works should take hold of us.
But let us inquire if the Lord has really given that testament which He swore to the fathers that He would give to the people. He gave it; but they were not worthy to receive it, on account of their sins.
