Cyprian teaches that there is one episcopate, a part of which is held by each bishop jointly. No single bishop is "bishop of bishops." There is one body and one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. The bishops share in a single episcopal office, as branches share in one tree.
